Eamonn Kelly's hit comedy 'Religious Knowledge' returns to The Kings Head in Galway, Monday Jan 9th & Tuesday Jan 10th

18 years after it was last performed 'Religious Knowledge' a one act comedy by Eamonn Kelly returns with the original cast to the original venue, the back bar of The Kings Head Pub in Galway's Latin Quarter. Set in a classroom, it features Gerry Conneely as 'the Brother', and Gary McSweeney, Tommy Tiernan & Philip Sweeney as his hapless pupils.

The year is 1970, Dana has just won the Eurovision & the Brother is attempting to educate Messers Fogarty, Dunphy & McQuaid about life & its various facts.

Religious Knowledge, a popular and critical success, ran almost continuously in the King's Head lunchtime comedy slot for over two years in the early 90's and was loved by Galway audiences, many of whom returned to see the play several times.

Written by Eamonn Kelly, a native of Dublin, and directed by Fiona Kelly, this special re-staging of the show, part nostalgic celebration and part class reunion, will take place next Monday & Tuesday in the King's Head on Jan 9th and 10th at 8pm for 2 nights only. The boys are back, older but by no means wiser.

Tickets which are selling fast are €10 &  are on sale now from The King's Head Pub in Galway.

This open-air festival was always Eddie Izzard’s gig. But while the surrealist disappointed many by doing much the same material as he did the previous year, Tiernan knocked him out of the park. On his day the impassioned Irishman is one of the world’s best comedians – and this was his day. He evangelised against conformity and shared touching anecdotes, all with an eloquent wit and often fierce delivery that made thousands of people forget the threat of impeding rain and be moved, entertained and enlightened all in one barnstorming set.
